Jurriaan van Rijswijk

Jurriaan van Rijswijk is founder and chairman of the Games for Health Europe Foundation. He is an entrepreneur and serious game designer for 22 years and won the ICT Personality of the Year Award in the Netherlands. He develops game strategies and designs behaviour change interventions using clinically and scientifically-validated games – for which he has also won various awards. Games for Health Europe Foundation is the worldwide co-creation network for research, development and implementation of games within the health ecosystem.

DI (FH) Volker Schörghofer

DI (FH) Volker Schörghofer is the IT director of the Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions (Hauptverband der österreichischen Sozialversicherungsträger). This umbrella organisation is responsible for safeguarding general social security interests and for representing the social security institutions in matters of common concern (e.g. concluding contracts with doctors, hospitals, etc.). It also represents the Austrian social security system in dealings with similar organisations abroad and, in an international context, acts as an access point and liaison body in matters of health, accident and pension insurance. DI (FH) Volker Schörghofer will give an overview of their activities and especially highlight what innovative solutions trough IT can be delivered and achieved, which also includes the potentials for serious games and applications for health.

Univ. Prof. DI Dr. Thomas Grechenig

Thomas Grechenig is a tenure professor at the Technischen Universität Wien since 1994. He is also head of the research group for Industrial Software (INSO), which consists of several research sub-groups dealing with Software Engineering, Usability Engineering, Medical Informatics, IT Security Engineering, Enterprise Information Systems, Health Telematics, Project Risk Management in large IT, e-government, or ID-management systems. Thomas is also founder of Research Industrial Systems Engineering (www.rise-world.com, RISE), which is an independent European Research&Development provider with excellence to the global IT-industry, consisting of more than 300 delivery experts and IT architects. RISE holds a track record of 20 years in experiences with IT solutions, R&D solutions and IT planning at an international IT level. Thomas has supported work on Serious Games in eHealth for more than 10 years and has promoted it with public authorirties.

Thomas is an advisor and architect to a series of very large national IT projects, e.g.: Austrian all citizen personal health card and its national secure data infrastructure (2003 – 2005, for several ministries and the association of social insurances); strategic support for comparable projects since 2002 till now have covered e.g. Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, or Qatar; national store house logistics (Ministry of Defence); IT organization of nation-wide NGOs (more than 500.000 members); IoT solutions and security systems doing critical transaction in more than 30 countries; tax systems, electronic act infrastructure and performance tuning ; overall software development strategy for public administration data centers; national bank, national payment systems, numerous R&D tasks in the government sector; Prof. Grechenig has been the lead architect of one of Europe’s largest IT projects (Germany’s health telematics).
