Exergames: Games that Give You Fun and Make You Heathy

Bio: Prof. Marcelo Hounsell is a Full Professor at the Computer Science Department of the Santa Catarina State University in Brazil since 1990. He gives lectures at graduate and undergraduate programs on Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He has received 47 distinctions such as supervisor of the Best PhD and Master Thesis in Games and Digital Entertainment in 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022, Best Full Paper at Arts & Design on SBGames 2017 (Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment), among others. He has produced 71 software/prototypes where 25 are digital games. He has been invited as a keynote speaker to 55 events including one at TEDxUDESCJoinville, has published 317 refereed papers and participated in more than 300 Boards of Examination for Thesis and Dissertations. He has experience in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, is a leading researcher in the field of exergames applied to health and education, and is an active fellow of research of the following subjects: Serious Games, Augmented and Virtual Reality and, Informatics in Education.
